Food style based in three different main components: olive oil, bread and wine. This type of food comes from countries like France, Italy, Spain, Greece, Ex-Yugoslavia, Syria, Egypt, Turkey, Israel, Algeria, Morocco and Tunisia.
Its worldwide renown comes from the knowledge of its low incidence in heart diseases as a result of the olive oil as one of its main ingredients which helps to decrease cholesterol due to its monosaturated fat. On the other hand, fruits and legumes, used on this type of food as well as Mediterranean fish instead of beef which provide the necessary amount of fat the organism needs.
The use of cereals is another important factor. As well as the pasta in Italy, the couscous along the north of Africa and the truck garden products that will join later, such as lettuce, tomatoes and nuts. But the main nutritious product of this type of food and the axis of its culture was the bread.
The third main ingredient is the wine, which has a natural property of avoiding the body to oxidize, provides ethanol, tannin, poli fenoles, and alcohol which strengths the heart.
